Browns LB Gocong injures ankle

Cleveland Browns linebacker Chris Gocong was carted off the field after injuring his right ankle defensing a pass during practice Saturday morning.

Gocong was untouched on the play, but he grabbed his ankle as he was on the ground for about a minute and could not put any weight on it when he stood up, according to CBS Sports.

A serious injury would limit a Cleveland linebacking corps that is already thin and could lose Scott Fujita to a three-game suspension to start the season because of the former New Orleans Saint's role in the bounty scandal.

Rookie James-Michael Johnson could replace Gocong if he is out for extended period of time. Veteran Kaluka Maiava is also a possibility, but he would likely replace Fujita.
