Browns' Lauvao to have ankle surgery

Cleveland Browns starting right guard Shawn Lauvao was scheduled to have arthroscopic surgery on his left ankle on Friday, coach Rob Chudzinski said, according to the Akron Beacon Journal.

Lauvao injured his ankle earlier this week in practice.

The team provided no specific timetable for Lauvao's possible return, but the Cleveland Plain Dealer reported the procedure is expected to keep Lauvao out about six weeks.

As a result, Jason Pinkston is likely to return to the starting lineup. He was the starting left guard last season before a blood clot in his lung that ended his season after six games.

Lauvao, a third-round pick in 2010, has started the last 32 games for the Browns.
