Broncos nearly brought back Ronnie Hillman

The Denver Broncos ground game has been a disappointment yet again in 2016. They’re averaging just 97.4 rushing yards per game, and are ranked 23rd in the NFL in that category.

Obviously, being without C.J. Anderson over the last few weeks hasn’t helped, and it appears as though the team was interested in bringing an old friend back, according to Mike Klis:

The Broncos certainly could have used Hillman’s skills after he failed to produce much with the Minnesota Vikings. Hillman was flashy numerous times last season and could have been the boost the Broncos needed.

Instead, Devontae Booker and Kapri Bibbs will have to carry the load until Anderson is able to return. Hillman was a fan favorite with the Broncos and was a big reason their inconsistent offense did just enough to win Super Bowl 50 a season ago.

Now, Gary Kubiak and company will have to find a way to manage without Anderson. The San Diego Chargers will now get a boost of their own with Hillman on the team.
