Broncos need to give Justin Forsett a chance on Sunday

Ravens vs. Browns
Ravens vs. Browns

The Denver Broncos aren’t a whole lot different than last season’s Super Bowl 50-winning team when it comes to structure. This is a team that has an average offense at best with an elite defense that gives them the chance to win every single week. Wait, a defense that’s responsible for most success they have.

Here’s the problem, though. The Broncos are supposed to be rushing the ball well. It’s a rule with Gary Kubiak as head coach. He made Arian Foster a star with the Houston Texans. He made Justin Forsett a stud with the Baltimore Ravens.

But C.J. Anderson’s hot-and-cold play, coupled with his injury that’s kept him out for a large portion of this season, hasn’t been able to provide the boost this offense needs in the ground game. Denver is just 23rd-overall in rushing with a mere 100.2 yards per game.

Aside from Anderson’s 107 rushing yards in Week 7 over Houston, the most a Bronco has rushed for this year was 92 – Anderson in Week 1 against Carolina. Ever since that big week against Houston, the most a Broncos player rushed for was 79 yards. Not good enough.

Justin Forsett was a forgotten commodity in Baltimore and obviously didn’t do much in Detroit. But you think Devontae Booker and/or Kapri Bibbs can be better than Anderson? That just won’t cut it.

Forsett is a low-risk move. The Broncos could earn a high reward. Against the Tennessee Titans on Sunday, the Broncos better give the veteran a chance. What do they have to lose? Give him 15-20 carries.
