Brandon McCarthy wins one Wednesday

Yankees pitcher Brandon McCarthy turned in a strong start Wednesday against the Rays.

McCarthy allowed two runs on four hits over seven innings. He struck out four and walked one during the outing. McCarthy looked good to open the start, tossing three scoreless frames to open the game. He allowed his first run in the fourth inning. With two outs, Evan Longoria belted a solo home run against McCarthy. After a scoreless fifth inning, Longoria struck again in the sixth. This time, Longoria brought in a run on a ground out. 

With the win, McCarthy improved to 10-14. He’ll take on the Orioles in his next start.
