Blue Jays 5, Athletics 2

OAKLAND, Calif. -- Toronto rebounded nicely Wednesday after losing Tuesday night's game on a walk-off grand slam by Brandon Inge.

The Blue Jays got a two run homer from Adam Lind, solo homers from J.P. Arencibia and Edwin Encarnacion, and an RBI single from Colby Rasmus as they beat the Oakland Athletics 5-2.

Brandon Morrow (4-1) pitched six innings for the win, giving up four hits and a run, walked four and struck out ten. Casey Janssen closed it out for the save.

Morrow allowed an infield single to Jemile Weeks and a pair of walks to load the bases, but escaped without allowing a run as Kila Ka'aihue flied out to center field to end the first inning.

After the opening frame, Morrow cruised through the A's lineup until the fifth inning. He got two strikeouts and then issued two walks. Jonny Gomes delivered with an RBI single scoring Cliff Pennington. Morrow finished his outing by retiring the final four batters, including two strikeouts.

The A's scored a second run off reliever Luis Perez in the seventh inning. Anthony Recker walked, advanced to third on a single by Cliff Pennington and scored on a single to right by Josh Reddick.

In a spot start assignment, Tyson Ross (1-3) took the loss allowing three runs on five hits in 5 2/3 innings.

In the 6th, with two outs Brett Lawrie doubled to right center and scored on a single to right field by Rasmus. Arencibia connected for his 3rd home run of the season leading off the seventh inning.

Encarnacion hit a moon shot to left in the eighth inning, ending a 0-for-21 at the plate.

The Blue Jays had runners on base in the first three innings but failed to score. Toronto finally broke the scoreless tie in the top of the fourth. Eric Thames led off with a single to right center. With two outs, Adam Lind hit a line drive home run just over the scoreboard in right field to give the Blue Jays a two run lead.

NOTES: Oakland rookie CF Yoenis Cespedes has missed the last two games with a hand injury. ... Both starting pitchers Tyson Ross and Brandon Morrow attended University of California Berkeley. ... Brandon McCarthy, originally scheduled to start Tuesday's game and then Wednedsay, has been pushed back to Saturday's game vs. Detroit because of a shoulder injury. McCarthy will have a bullpen session on Thursday to test his shoulder. For now, there is no scheduled starter for Saturday night. The Tigers will send Rick Porcello to the mound. The A's stole two bases on Wednesday and lead the American League with 30. ... Toronto starters have worked at least five innings in 33 consecutive outings dating back to Sep. 27, 2011 and is the current longest active streak in the Majors.
