Avoid the Bruins

Corey Abbott recommends Krejci, Daniel Sedin, Stastny, Kevin Hayes and much more in the latest Waiver Wired

If you are looking for power play numbers, then perhaps it’s a good idea to avoid Boston Bruin players.

The Bruins do not get a lot of power play opportunities compared to the rest of the NHL and the numbers over the last seven years show that to be true.

In the last seven seasons the Bruins have been no better than 25th in the NHL in power play opportunities.

2007-08 – 27th

2008-09 – 27th

2009-10 – 29th

2010-11 – 26th (tied)

2011-12 – 25th (tied)

2012-13 – 30th

2013-14 – 30th

In addition, over the last five seasons, their top point producer on the power play has been Zdeno Chara who had 18 in 2011-12. Torey Krug has 12 this season but it was so bad in 2012-13 that David Krejci led the team with only seven power play points during the truncated season.

ANAHEIM

Corey Perry: 7 points in 142:59 minutes of power play time.

Ryan Getzlaf: 11 points in 134:01.

Cam Fowler: 11 points in 133:00.

Nick Bonino: 11 points in 115:25.

Dustin Penner: 9 points in 76:17.

Teemu Selanne: 2 points in 75:41.

The Ducks were 0-8 with the man-advantage this week and are 19-131 this season.

BOSTON

David Krejci: 11 points in 95:56 minutes of power play time.
