AM's Week 11 Player Picks

Andrew Gastelum delves into the depths of Fantrax's draft leagues to uncover the best bargains for Gameweek 34 in the Premier League

Welcome to Week 11 of my player picks for the Yahoo Fantasy Premier League game. AM FC was able get back on track in Week 10, recording 131 fantasy points to move in to 1st place in my main private league for the first time this season with 1109 points overall. I had Alexis Sanchez, Eden Hazard and Cesc Fabregas to thank for this weekly total as backing Arsenal and Chelsea players (eventually) paid off, with Sergio Aguero, Angel Di Maria and Ryan Bertrand also chipping in. We have a round of international fixtures next weekend and it's always important to go in to the break with some momentum, so I'm keen to ensure Week 11 is another good one for both myself and you guys.

Week 11 Fixtures
Burnley v Hull City
Liverpool v Chelsea
Man Utd v Crystal Palace
QPR v Man City
Southampton v Leicester City
Sunderland v Everton
Swansea v Arsenal
Tottenham v Stoke
West Brom v Newcastle
West Ham v Aston Villa

Not for the first time this season Southampton look to have one of - if not the - most attractive fixture. Ronald Koeman's men are still flying high and host a Leicester side on an alarming slump, having drawn one and lost four of their last five Premier League games. That 5-3 win over Manchester United seems a long, long time ago. Like the Saints, West Ham are having an unexpectedly excellent start to their season and that can continue as Aston Villa visit Upton Park. Villa have lost six games in a row and will be without the suspended Christian Benteke, so this looks like a Hammers win all day.

Manchester United's already frail defence has been damaged further so I don't expect them to keep a clean sheet against Crystal Palace, but they should have enough attacking quality to defeat the Eagles, who will be without their captain and talisman Mile Jedinak due to suspension. Manchester City will also be strong favourites to take the three points from their visit to Loftus Road despite QPR's upturn in form in recent weeks, and Liverpool's defence is unlikely to be able to prevent Jose Mourinho's Chelsea machine from continuing their assault on the title.

Aside from that there isn't a whole lot to love. Hull will know they can beat Burnley and Everton must fancy their trip to Sunderland, but I wouldn't be backing either side too heavily considering the more attractive fixtures mentioned above. The same could be said of Spurs who rarely play well after a Europa League week and face a tough Stoke side, and Arsenal who face a tricky clash with Swansea at the Liberty Stadium. Finally West Brom v Newcastle looks like a nailed on 1-1 draw and isn't a match to focus on for fantasy purposes.

In summary Southampton, West Ham, Manchester United, Manchester City and Chelsea are the teams taking my attention this weekend, so with that in mind please click over to the next page to view my Week 11 player recommendations.

KEEPERS
Fraser Forster - Southampton have the best defensive record in the Premier League by some way and are set for yet another win at home to Leicester, so Forster is the top keeper pick once again,
Adrian - Roughly the same price as Forster and with an equally decent home fixture as West Ham host Aston Villa, Adrian is only owned by 0.5% Yahoo managers, so the Spanish stopper could be your differential.
David De Gea - As mentioned I don't expect a Manchester United clean sheet given the make-shift defence that will be on show against Crystal Palace, but it should be a win for De Gea and he's been in sparkling form making a variety of world-class saves.

DEFENDERS
Ryan Bertrand - The top defensive pick for similar reasons to Forster above, with the Saints facing a home game against Leicester. You'll see Bertrand featured in this column for the foreseeable future with the left back still costing less than £9million and still averaging more than 10 fantasy points per game.
Aaron Cresswell - After an excellent first three months for Cresswell since signing for West Ham, the defender made his major mistake for Stoke's second goal last weekend, but there's no risk of him being dropped as a friend of mine suggested earlier this week. A cheap and effective way to cover the potential Hammers clean sheet for their home match with Villa.
James Chester - I wanted to list a Hull defender for their trip to Burnley and after doing some research I believe Chester is the pick of the bunch this week (mainly because Andrew Robertson isn't certain to start). The centre-back will set you back £10million in the Yahoo game, but he's averaging 10 point per game and will form part of a defence with a fine chance of clean sheet.
Calum Chambers - How frustrating it was to find myself £0.4million away from being able to afford Chambers for my own fantasy team last week after recommending him. Missing out on 24 points is never fun, and the young man is now pricey as a result of that performance, but he remains the most attractive option if you want to include an Arsenal defender in your line-up for their trip to Swansea.
Kieran Trippier - It says a lot for Trippier's effectiveness in the Yahoo fantasy game when he can pick up nine fantasy points despite Burnley being on the end of a 3-0 defeat. The right-back is prolific at winning tackles, intercepting passes and getting crosses in to the box, meaning he doesn't need clean sheet to be productive.
Paddy McNair - Guaranteed to start in the centre of defence for Manchester United against Crystal Palace (alongside Michael Carrick of all people), McNair costs less than £2million making him an excellent filler option. Steve has further details in his Bargain Hunter column.
Younes Kaboul - Tottenham captain Kaboul has come in for criticism for his performances this season but we know the Frenchman is certain to start against Stoke and he is one of the very best for picking up points for intercepting passes (31 already in 10 games). Well priced at a shade over £7million.
Sylvain Distin - A forgotten man over the past month, but with John Stones and Antolin Alcaraz both out injured Distin will be back alongside Phil Jagielka for Everton's winnable trip to Sunderland. The veteran will know it'll take a few big performances to keep his place when his colleagues return from the treatment table and I'm confident that will help him regain some form.

MIDFIELDERS
Angel Di Maria - If Sunderland are able to put three goals past Palace then I'm fairly certain Manchester United will score a few themselves this weekend, and British-record signing Di Maria is likely to be at the heart of everything positive on show at Old Trafford.
Dusan Tadic - Since amassing a monster 40 point fantasy haul in Week 8 Tadic has been restrained with just 11 points in his past two matches, but Leicester at home feels like the game for the Serbian to return to that sizzling form.
Stewart Downing - West Ham's player of the season so far, Downing hasn't always translated his excellent performances in to fantasy points but the attacking midfielder was magnificent pulling his side back in to the match against Stoke for huge returns. I expect another productive display against struggling Villa and currently have him in my Week 11 team.
Cesc Fabregas - It's now nine assists and a goal in ten games for Fabregas and with the help of Nemanja Matic I expect the Spanish midfielder to control the match against Liverpool.
Sadio Mane - Playing as a wide forward alongside Graziano Pelle, Mane is doing a terrific job, so if you fancy a big Southampton win against Leicester then you could include the Senegalese attacker in your midfield alongside (or instead of) Tadic.
Yaya Toure - Spent most of the Manchester derby limping around the pitch as if he was injured, but produced four or five moments of brilliance with some exquisite passing in the final third of the pitch, and scored a wonderful free-kick in the Champions League (before picking up a stupid red card). We're unlikely to see Yaya scale the heights of last season - when he hit 20 Premier League goals - ever again, but he's capable of running things against QPR's midfield.
Ross Barkley - Roberto Martinez has been sensible in the way he's eased Barkley back in to Premier League action and the midfielder's fitness is visibly improving game by game. He should start at Sunderland and can return solid points from a position behind the strikers.
Aaron Ramsey - It's about time Ramsey started displaying his class after a difficult start to the season. The Welshman has found himself on the bench a couple of times recently, but With Mikel Arteta, Mesut Ozil and Jack Wilshere injured he will start at Swansea and I'm tipping him for a return to form.
Nacer Chadli - Scoring yet again against Aston Villa to bring his goal tally for season to five, Chadli seems to have an increasing habit of being in the right place at the right time. Still priced at less than £8million, the Belgian winger is well worth a look for the home game against Stoke.
Hatem Ben Arfa - With Jelavic injured, Ben Arfa should continue in his role behind Hernandez against Burnley and we know the midfielder can be a superstar on his day. Not too much of a gamble at a price of just £4 million.

STRIKERS
Graziano Pelle - A couple of quiet weeks for Pelle has seen his price drop back to a level that allows Steve to include him this week's Bargain Hunter column, so check it out to read why the powerful striker is one of the top selections for the Southampton's match against Leicester.
Sergio Aguero - While there is no denying QPR have improved in recent weeks it's difficult to imagine Richard Dunne being able to cope with Aguero on Saturday. The Argentinian is the Premier League's top scorer and leads the way in fantasy scoring too, so he could prove worth the substantial investment.
Alexis Sanchez - Five goals in his last three games for Arsenal suggests Sanchez has fully adapted to life in the Premier League. The Chilean's all-action displays have included plenty of successful crosses, shots on target and assists, so even if he doesn't score he should regularly return double digit fantasy points.
Diafra Sakho - West Ham's super summer signing missed the Stoke clash due to injury, but he's back in the squad for a nice little home match against Villa. Sakho is just 2% owned in the Yahoo game so could provide a bit of a differential if that's what you’re after.
Diego Costa - Understandably a bit off the pace at Old Trafford last weekend after a long spell out, but Costa played well off the bench in Wednesday night's Champions League clash and the forward will prove a handful for the out-of-form Martin Skrtel and Dejan Lovren at Anfield.
Robin van Persie - Some pundits are writing van Persie off as "past his best" but the Dutchman still oozes quality when sharp and will lead the line against a frail Crystal Palace side. Penalty duty is just one of many reasons RvP is an worth considering this weekend.
Abel Hernandez - Hull manager Steve Bruce has admitted Hernandez is finding it difficult playing without his injured strike partner Jelavic, but there's no better way to get yourself back in to form than facing Burnley. Another option for the fantasy manager looking to do something different.
Harry Kane - After his match-winning cameo against Villa and excellent form in general (nine goals in all competitions this season) it would be ridiculous if Kane doesn't start against Stoke on Sunday. However, Spurs are often ridiculous, so we await team news on Friday.

So those are the players I'm considering for my Week 11 Yahoo team. Please make sure you check back here on Friday for all the team and injury news as we analyse the fall-out from the midweek European matches.

My own team page currently looks like this ...

XI: Forster, McNair, Cresswell, Bertrand, Fabregas, Tadic, Downing, Di Maria, Sanchez, Costa, Aguero
Subs: Lamela, Kelly, Thorpe, Courtois

I think the best way to describe my team is "trapped by discounts". I'd love to add the likes of Toure, Mane, Sakho and Pelle but there's no way I can lose the discounts I've built up for a one week gain, so this is likely to be final barring any unexpected injuries.
