Baltimore: RHP Dylan Bundy, the fourth overall pick in last year's draft, was promoted to the majors after going 9-3 with a 2.08 ERA in a combined 23 starts for three minor league teams this season. Bundy, 19, brings an extra arm to a bullpen that worked 12 2/3 innings in Tuesday's 18-inning win at Seattle. ... Taylor Teagarden's pinch single knocked in the go-ahead run in the 18th inning Tuesday. That gave him seven RBI on six hits this season.

Boston: RH reliever Junichi Tazawa got one out Tuesday to lower his ERA to 1.42. He had struck out 10 while pitching five scoreless innings in his past six outings. "You can't throw a ball any better than he's throwing it," manager Bobby Valentine said. ... Ryan Lavarnway is receiving an education on every facet of catching this month, including an unexpected one. "I think one of the biggest humps for a young catcher to get over is learning some of the umpires," Valentine said.

Chicago: RF Alex Rios was supposed to have Wednesday's game off, but when the Royals changed from a right-handed starting pitcher to a lefty, he was in the lineup. "Every time I want to give him one, it never happens," manager Robin Ventura said. ... The White Sox are one of the few teams that still takes infield practice. "We've been winning, so they're not going to stop now," 2B Gordon Beckham said.

Cleveland: DH Travis Hafner, who had been out since Aug. 6 due to lower back inflammation, was activated off the disabled list. Manager Manny Acta said Hafner would be limited to playing three times a week. ... RH reliever Jeanmar Gomez and LH reliever Tony Sipp were the only members of the 11-man bullpen who didn't appear in the Indians' 12-inning loss Tuesday. Cleveland used 10 pitchers in the game, setting a club record and falling one short of the major league record for most pitchers used in an extra-inning game.

Detroit: RHP Max Scherzer's availability for his next start won't be known for at least one more day. Scherzer pitched two innings Tuesday before coming out with right shoulder fatigue. Tests of his shoulder found a minor problem with his deltoid. "He'll be fine," manager Jim Leyland said. ... C Alex Avila missed a third consecutive start due to concussion symptoms. "He's not available," Leyland said. "There are certain procedures in place that have to be followed."

Kansas City: RHP Luis Mendoza (strep throat) threw a light side session. Mendoza, who was scratched from his Wednesday start against the White Sox, could start Friday against the Indians. That would put LHP Will Smith on target for a probable Saturday start. RHP Jake Odorizzi likely would make his major league debut Sunday. ... RHP Luke Hochevar struck out four batters Tuesday, giving him 132 strikeouts for the year, a career high. He fanned 128 last year.

Los Angeles: RHP Jered Weaver improved his career mark to 100-51 with his win Tuesday. According to the Elias Sports Bureau, Weaver is one of five active pitchers who reached 100 wins with 51 or fewer losses, joining Tim Hudson (100-45 when he recorded his 100th win), Johan Santana (100-47), Roy Oswalt (100-47) and Roy Halladay (100-50). ... 1B Albert Pujols was back in the starting lineup after missing one game to be with his family. His wife gave birth to a daughter Sunday.

Minnesota: OF Darin Mastroianni tore a tendon his in left middle finger on a slide in Tuesday's game. He's likely to be limited to pinch-running for the remainder of the season. ... RHP Kyle Gibson, the Twins' first-round pick in the 2009 draft, is in Fort Myers, Fla., and he will throw some instructional league innings before reporting to the Arizona Fall League. Gibson, 24, had Tommy John surgery on Sept. 1, 2011.

New York: Derek Jeter didn't play the opener of the doubleheader, but he started at shortstop in the nightcap. He'd served as the designated hitter in each of his previous four starts due to a bone bruise in his left ankle. ... RHP Dellin Betances was promoted to the Yankees and placed on the 60-day disabled list to clear room on the 40-man roster for LHP Andy Pettitte, who came off the 60-day DL. Betances, 6-9 with a 6.44 ERA for Class AA and Class AAA combined, had been shut down due to shoulder inflammation.

Oakland: CF Coco Crisp left Tuesday's game with a severe case of allergic conjunctivitis, and he didn't start Wednesday. Crisp also missed Sunday's game with the condition. Manager Bob Melvin said he wants to make sure Crisp's vision is unaffected before the outfielder returns to action. ... 3B Brandon Inge said his recovery from arthroscopic shoulder surgery likely will take four to five months, and he expects to be ready for spring training. Inge, who will be a free agent, said he definitely wants to play next season.

Seattle: The Mariners went hitless in 17 at-bats with runners in scoring position Tuesday during their 18-inning loss to the Orioles. "That was a tough one," manager Eric Wedge said. "We had so many chances, but nobody stepped up." ... RHP Erasmo Ramirez carried a shutout into the ninth inning Tuesday but was charged with two runs when RH closer Tom Wilhelmsen couldn't seal the win. "If this was my final start, I'm glad I made it a good one," Ramirez said.

Tampa Bay: RHP Alex Cobb said he considered Monday's dugout confrontation with C Jose Molina to be over, and he didn't see any need to seek Molina out to talk it over. Molina has declined to talk to the media. Manager Joe Maddon said he considered it to be a non-issue and didn't see a reason to bring the players together. ... RHP Jeremy Hellickson lasted just four-plus innings Tuesday in a no-decision against Boston. He has been unable to get through six innings in 11 of his 28 starts.

Texas: CF Josh Hamilton came out of Tuesday's game in the fourth inning due to blurry vision and a headache that club officials said were the product of a sinus issue. Hamilton didn't start Wednesday. ... RH reliever Tanner Scheppers left Tuesday's game with a bruised right knee after getting his legs tangled up with Angels C Chris Iannetta on a play at the plate. Scheppers fell awkwardly on the knee. He threw only two pitches, hitting one batter and throwing the second for a wild pitch.

Toronto: IF Omar Vizquel had two hits in the first game of the doubleheader, tying and passing Babe Ruth for 41st place on baseball's all-time hit list. Vizquel raised his total to 2,874 hits. "It's very emotional, especially here in New York, the house that he built," Vizquel said. ... 1B/DH Edwin Encarnacion didn't start either game of the doubleheader due to a sore right big toe. The same ailment kept him out of two games last weekend.
