49ers Harbaugh tweaks his attire

San Francisco coach Jim Harbaugh has made a subtle change to his normal game-day attire to make sure he’s in the best form for a battle. Harbaugh said this week that he has taken to wearing black cleats with his usual khakis and black sweatshirt.

“The first thing that prompted (the cleats) was the scuffle I was trying to break up in Tennessee,” Harbaugh said Monday. “No traction. I didn’t want to be in that situation again.”

Harbaugh first wore the cleats during a win over Jacksonville in London, then didn’t wear them in losses to Carolina and New Orleans. However, he switched back and the 49ers are 4-0 when he’s in spikes. That has made Harbaugh something of a character from a Bud Light commercial.

“Now I’m wearing the cleats because we’ve won every time I’ve worn the cleats,” Harbaugh said. “There was a time I was superstitious about not being superstitious. And I’m suddenly super-stitious a little bit.”
