When is Strikeforce going to pull the plug on this Alistair Overeem sham? It did so quietly with its middleweight belt held by Cung Le. Strikeforce CEO Scott Coker announced that Le would be back at some point but now the belt has been stripped. He needs to do the same with his heavyweight strap especially after watching Overeem face a nobody in Tony Sylvester in something called Ultimate Glory 11 in Holland last night.
Overeem finished Sylvester with a bevy of knees and eventually locked up the win with a standing guillotine choke at 1:23 of the first round. The Strikeforce heavyweight champ hasn't defended his title since November of 2007 and consistently backed out of cards in 2009. He was scheduled to fight Fabricio Werdum in August in San Jose and would've been a perfect candidate to fight on the undercard of Strikeforce's initial CBS show on Nov. 7. A network showcase with both Overeem and Fedor Emelianenko would set up a huge show on Strikeforce's next network television go around.
UPDATE: MDS of AOL Fanhouse is reporting that Overeem will fight again in Japan at DREAM 12 on Nov. 25 against the great James Thompson.
This is getting ridiculous. There has to be a reason the "253-pound" Overeem doesn't want to fight in the United States. The evidence mounting with his constant avoidance of coming here is beginning to get overwhelming.

#13 Clint, Anderson Silva came from PRIDE in Japan. Fedor, Mousasi, Hendo, Saku, Big Nog, Lil Nog, Rampage, Wanderlei, Shogun, Gomi, Mach, Kaw, Hansen, Aoki, etc. ALL from PRIDE in Japan. Couture has fought in Japan 7 times so don't forget to call him a "cheating fa66ot" too. BJ Penn and Machida have also fought in Japan so they will have to join the "cheating fa66ot" list as well. It goes without saying but Lesnar also fought in Japan so he's on the "cheating fa66ot" list also. I bet that "cheating fa66ot" Rampage was on roids back in 03 when he beat the then #3 ranked LHW in the world Chuck Liddell so badly his corner had to save him by throwing in the towel. You have no grasp whatsoever on PEDS so why even speculate and hurl baseless accusations? PED use is far greater in the US than it is in Japan. Incredibly ignorant comment on your part.

Why does Overeem NOT want to fight Fedor? So many fighters would do just about anything for the mere chance of knocking the “Emperor” off of his throne. Randy went to court, battled the UFC, and made great efforts to materialize a fight with Fedor. Overeem has the chance to fight Fedor on national TV and he does not seem to care in the least, prioritizing K-1 matches and clown shows over in Japan. Why??

Yeah, I mean, its not like Dana wants Aoki, Yamamoto, and the other legit talent in Japan, since they're all just a bunch of cheaters. *rolls eyes*
mathiasmorciglio - Keep in mind that Overeem was giving Chuck and Shogun (in their second fight) a good amount of trouble on the feet.. Also, that second fight with Shogun was in 07, and his fight with Liddell went even further back to 03. Overeem has significantly improved his standup since those fights, which was already decent to begin with.
So far there is no physical evidence that Overeem is on roids. I'll give him the benefit of the doubt like others. I'd say its likely he's taking HGH, but I bet many fighters are taking that, and there is also yet to be physical evidence he is even taking that.

I'm not pushing the roid claim, as I have no evidence or knowledge. But why do you think he would not want to take on Fedor? If he won, it would make him more popular in whatever venue he chooses to fight within. I just don’t understand his thinking.

I'm still a firm believer that a champ needs to defend his belt at least once a year.
