Hendricks awarded Fight of the Night at WEC 39

Former Oklahoma State wrestler Johny Hendricks along with his opponent Alex Serdyukov picked up the Fight of the Night bonus in Corpus Christi. Hendricks won a unanimous decision to collect the extra $7,500. Damacio Page got Knockout of the Night for his quick work of Marcos Galvao in 18 seconds. Mike Brown, who retained his WEC featherweight title against Leonard Garcia, got Submission of the Night with his arm-triangle finish. The choice was easy for WEC, with Brown securing the only sub finish of the night.

The attendance was 6,100 and the gate was $297,990 at WEC 39 at American Bank Center Arena.

Hendricks (5-0), a two-time NCAA Div. 1 national wrestling champion (2005 & 2006), has made quick strides with his game by improving his striking and jiu-jitsu. Watch here as Hendricks speaks about his growth as a fighter in this pre-fight interview with Cage Writer.
