Player Notes
Matt Wieters (elbow) will serve as the DH in Wednesday's Grapefruit League game against the Tigers.

Advice: Wieters, who is making his way back from Tommy John surgery, is expected to remain in the DH spot until around March 17. The hope is he'll make enough progress with his catching and throwing drills to get back behind the plate by then. As of now, the Orioles expect him to be ready for Opening Day.

Matt Wieters (elbow) is scheduled to begin catch and throw drills on Monday.

Advice: Wieters isn't expected to be cleared to begin throwing with any real force until March 17, but Monday represents a big step in his recovery. To this point, he has been limited to playing long toss. So long as he avoids any setbacks, there's no reason to expect he won't be behind the dish when the O's open up the regular season.

Matt Wieters (elbow) is set to start at catcher for Sunday's intrasquad game.

Advice: It will be the first time Wieters has been behind the dish since last May. While he'll serve as the backstop, Wieters still won't be allowed to throw at 100 percent until March 17. He's slated to catch two innings in Sunday's game. Everything is trending toward the 28-year-old being ready for Opening Day.
