CBS Sports' Jon Heyman reports that the Diamondbacks have added Joe McEwing to their list of managerial candidates.

Advice: McEwing has been the White Sox third base coach for the past three seasons and has strong ties to Diamondbacks chief baseball officer Tony La Russa. Sandy Alomar, Jr., Jim Tracy, Jay Bell, Andy Green, Phil Nevin, and Turner Ward are among the other names Arizona is considering to replace Kirk Gibson.

Nick Piecoro of the Arizona Republic reports that Sandy Alomar, Jr. and Jim Tracy are candidates for the Diamondbacks' managerial vacancy.

Advice: Alomar has five spent seasons with the Indians as the first base, third base and bench coach. Tracy has previously managed with the Dodgers, Pirates, and Rockies. Chris Cotillo of MLB Daily Dish adds that Jay Bell, Andy Green, Phil Nevin, and Turner Ward are other candidates for the job. More figure to be added to the list.

Paul Goldschmidt took batting practice on the field Saturday for the first time since fracturing his left hand in early August.

Advice: The workout went well, and Goldschmidt is on track to be 100 percent healthy by the start of spring training next year. The first baseman batted .300/.396/.542 with 19 home runs and 69 RBI in 109 games this season.
