LHP Jon Lester scattered five hits through seven shutout innings, didn't walk a single batter and fanned eight Baltimore hitters en route to his seventh win of the season. The victory lifted Lester over the .500 mark for the first time all season, and also pushed him to 8-0 lifetime with a 2.18 ERA in 10 starts against the O's. Lester is the first hurler to win his first eight decisions against the Orioles since former Toronto Blue Jays right-hander Todd Stottlemyre did it in a span between 1988-93. "Maybe their lineup just fits me for some reason, I don't know," Lester said to reporters after the game. "I don't pitch any different against them than against any other team, but I'm just fortunate to get some runs early on and that's the biggest thing." |
