Advice: The deal was agreed to earlier in the week, but it took a few days to iron out all of the specifics in the contract. The Cubs will hold a press conference on Monday afternoon to formally introduce their new ace.Fri, Dec 19 Rotoworld
Advice: Wowza. The bonus will be paid out over the life of his six-year, $155 million contract. Jeff Passan of Yahoo Sports hears that $20 million will be paid up front while the remaining $10 million will be more spread out. The deal carries a full no-trade clause. The seventh year option is worth $25 million and carries a $10 million buyout. It will vest if he reaches 200 innings in 2020 or 400 total innings between 2019-20.

Advice: Well, that probably made the decision a little bit easier. Nothing has been officially announced yet, but Lester has reportedly agreed to a six-year, $155 million contract with the Cubs. There's an option for a seventh year which could bring the max total to $170 million.

Advice: According to Passan, the Red Sox offered $135 million for six years. It's certainly the right call for Lester; it's not like the Red Sox lacked the ability to match the Cubs offer and the Cubs' future is probably brighter anyway. He'll lead a rotation that also includes Jake Arrieta and Jason Hammel.

Advice: Martino cautions that the Cubs haven't been told they're getting Lester yet and the Red Sox have "remained in the mix." However, he also notes that the industry has considered the Cubs the front-runners "all along" and "that feeling intensified" late Tuesday night. The expectation has been that Lester's decision will be revealed Tuesday, but Martino says it might not come until Wednesday.

Advice: We've seen $150 million as a nice round number thrown out there, so it's not a surprise that a team would fork over a bit more to push themselves over the top. Lester has eliminated the Giants and Dodgers and is expected to decide soon whether to sign with the Cubs or Red Sox.

Advice: Lester had already eliminated the Giants and now he's officially crossed the Dodgers off his list. As many figured all along, the left-hander will wind up signing with either the Red Sox or Cubs. A decision could be revealed at some point Tuesday night.Rotoworld
Advice: "We did not receive a rose," Evans said. It's not surprising after Evans indicated earlier Tuesday that the Giants were in the "back seat" as far as Lester goes. While the Dodgers haven't officially been ruled out for Lester at this point, it appears that this is going to come down to the Red Sox and Cubs. Lester could make a decision later Tuesday.

Advice: Olney adds that Lester "soon will have final options to choose from" and it's "reasonable" to think a decision will come Tuesday night. It contradicts a report from Rob Bradford of WEEI.com, who said not long ago that Lester's agents are not at the stage to present their client with final offers. However, things can move quickly during the Winter Meetings, so there's no reason to doubt Olney's report. Lester is choosing between the Cubs, Red Sox, Giants and Dodgers, with the first two clubs looking like the favorites.

Advice: Most of the speculation was that a final resolution was expected to come down on Tuesday, but it's possible that won't be the case. FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal reported early Tuesday morning that Lester has four offers on the table in the six-year, $150 million range and that one team could push it to seven years, $175 million. Giants assistant general manager Bobby Evans said Tuesday on SiriusXM that he believes his team is in the "back seat" for Lester and pegged the Cubs and Red Sox as the favorites. The Dodgers are also believed to be in the mix.
