Advice: Coincidentally, Saturday happens to be Yoenis Cespedes (who was traded for Lester) t-shirt day at O.co Coliseum. Lester has put up a 2.52 ERA, 1.12 WHIP, and 149/32 K/BB ratio in 143 innings this season and should only get better at his new pitcher-friendly park.

Advice: The A's were unsatisfied with their rotation even after acquiring Jeff Samardzija (and Jason Hammel) from the Cubs, so they got a little more creative and picked up the top ace on the trade market. Lester can become a free agent after the 2014 World Series and is highly doubtful to re-sign with Oakland, but he'll give the club a big boost down the stretch and into October. The 30-year-old left-hander was sporting a 2.52 ERA, 1.12 WHIP, and 149/32 K/BB ratio in 143 innings this season for Boston. Now he moves to the most pitcher-friendly park in MLB.Fri, Aug 1 Rotoworld
Advice: Boston also gets a competitive-balance pick in the 2015 MLB Amateur Draft. Without many elite-level prospects remaining in the wake of the Jeff Samardzija and Jason Hammel trade, the A's had to get creative to work out a deal for Lester. And this sure is creative. Cespedes has big-time power, a huge throwing arm, and is under contractual control through 2015, so it's a big piece to give up for the penny-pinching A's. Lester, who can become a free agent this winter, gets a sizable fantasy boost with the move to pitcher-friendly Oakland.

Advice: Rosenthal notes that the Dodgers remain involved as well. The Cardinals made a move for a starter on Wednesday, acquiring Justin Masterson from the Indians, but they remain interested in Lester as more impactful starter to pair with Adam Wainwright. Lester would immediately become the Pirates' ace down the stretch. Lester is a free agent after the season.

Advice: Rosenthal didn't rule out something getting done, but it appears the two sides aren't as close to crossing the finish line as previously reported. MLB.com's Peter Gammons adds that the Red Sox still have "plenty" of alternatives if they're not able to work something out with the O's.

Advice: The Boston Globe's Pete Abraham is also hearing the deal is close and says the Red Sox will receive a pitcher in return. He mentions Miguel Gonzalez, but he would figure to be a secondary part of the deal. It appears that Lester will get to stay in the AL East and has said in the past that he would still consider re-signing with the Red Sox.Rotoworld
Advice: Morosi says that they would have to be willing to give up Shelby Miller to do it. It's certainly possible that the Red Sox have floated this information to Morosi in order to drive up Lester's price with other teams. On the other hand, St. Louis didn't have to surrender any of their top prospects to get Masterson, so we can't rule anything out.

Advice: The Dodgers are refusing to give up Joc Pederson, Corey Seager or Julio Urias in any deal, which makes acquiring one of the aforementioned aces an impossibility. Gammons said they're now focused on adding a back-end starter and bullpen help. With the Cardinals also out of the picture, it appears the Lester market might be down to the Pirates and A's.

Advice: Rodriguez says the Marlins will not trade Andrew Heaney for Lester, but it sounds like they might be willing to consider just about anyone else in their system. For what it's worth, president of baseball operations Michael Hill said the club is "not going to be short-sighted" in any deals.Rotoworld
Advice: It's a hefty price to pay for a two-month rental, but you can't blame the Red Sox for asking for that haul, especially when it looks like David Price might not be dealt. CBS Sports' Jon Heyman has listed the Dodgers and the Cardinals as the favorites for Lester, and Lauber has been told by industry insiders that the Dodgers are the "front-runner." The Pirates and A's are lurking in the background.
