- 2000 4ᵗʰ round by the St. Louis Cardinals
— Player Notes
Advice: Assuming he doesn't have a setback, things are looking good for Molina being activated for Friday's game versus the Cubs. If that happens, the catcher will have missed seven weeks following surgery to repair a torn ligament in his right thumb. He was given an 8-12 week timetable after having the operation.

Advice: Molina has made incredible progress from the torn ligament in his right thumb, and despite Wednesday being his first game action the Cardinals are optimistic about his ability to return to the big club shortly. Molina could be back in St. Louis by Friday at the earliest.Rotoworld
Advice: It goes along with previous report from the St. Louis Post-Dispatch's Derrick Goold, who said a return over the weekend was possible. Molina will catch five innings Wednesday in his first rehab appearance with Double-A Springfield. It's not clear whether he might need additional rehab games, but the Cards would seem likely to have him catch a full game before being activated. Molina has been sidelined since July 10 with a torn ligament in his right thumb.Rotoworld
Advice: Molina is set to catch 5-6 innings Wednesday in his first rehab game at Double-A Springfield. He'll be wearing support on his surgically-repaired right thumb, but it's not expected to affect his throwing or hitting. The Cardinals could conceivably wait until Monday when rosters expand to activate Yadi, but if he shows he's ready after a couple rehab games, they seem unlikely to wait just to avoid having to make a corresponding roster move.

Advice: There's been some confusion as to which day the assignment officially will begin, but it appears Yadi will work out with Springfield Tuesday before playing in Wednesday's game. He shouldn't need too many rehab at-bats, so an activation before the end of the week would seem to be a possibility.

Advice: It was reported earlier Monday that Molina would go through a workout Tuesday and then begin a rehab assignment later in the week, but Springfield manager Mike Shildt has revealed that Yadi will be his DH Tuesday. It's not clear when Molina will catch his first game, but he shouldn't need too many rehab contests before being activated. A return before the end of the week can't be ruled out.

Advice: This confirms an earlier report. Barring any setbacks, he'll likely move into game action from there. While the initial fear was that Molina would be lost for the season, he now appears on track to rejoin the Cardinals on or around September 1.Rotoworld
Advice: Molina began baseball activities about 10 days ago following surgery to repair a torn ligament in his right thumb in early July and he's now ready to make the next step. Assuming all goes well, he'll be cleared to begin a minor league rehab assignment this week, likely setting up a return in early September. It's great news for the Cards.

Advice: It was far from an intensive workout, but those were the first swings that Molina had attempted since tearing a ligament in his right thumb July 9 on a slide into third base. He has already been catching bullpen sessions and taking infield practice, and the hope is that he'll be ready to rejoin the Cardinals around the second week of September. A.J. Pierzynski and Tony Cruz will continue to fill in.

Advice: Molina has been catching bullpen sessions and taking infield practice for the past week with no issues and now seems to be progressing toward an early-September return. The star catcher has been on the disabled list since July 10 with a torn ligament in his right thumb. A.J. Pierzynski and Tony Cruz are filling in at catcher.
