Big League Stew - MLB

Comprised of the most knowledgeable followers from all 30 teams, the baseball blogosphere is an ever-expanding place that exponentially increases the fun of following the sport.

But that size can also be as frightening as a server crash. With hundreds of sources available via RSS or Twitter feeds, it can be difficult to know where to start or which blogger to follow.

With that in mind, the BLS Blogbook aims to map the online information terrain by providing a separate web directory for each team. The product below is a result of submitted entries by team-specific bloggers and compiled information from the Big League Stew staff.

Please subscribe, follow and bookmark to your heart's content. (Also, if you're a blogger who would like to be listed, please visit this post for further instructions.)

Who We Are: "Bleacher Nation provides the latest Chicago Cubs news and rumors, complete with insightful commentary and analysis. /gag. Our thousands of daily visitors (yup, it shocks us, too) come to enjoy the ambiance and repartee, but stay for the "enhanced" box scores and gripes about management smelling like poo. Join us. Or don't. Whatever. Actually, no, please do join us."

: Bradley Gone Despite Budget Cuts at Newspaper
Who we are
: "The Clark-Addison Cubs fan blog from CubHub.net attempts to rise above some of the incendiary gibberish often associated with fan blogs. We try to resist posting clutter; posts are daily throughout the season and as needed off-season. Tweets flow more freely. Occasional interviews such as the guy who runs the message board at Wrigley, a visit with beat writer Bruce Miles, and audio interview with Pat Hughes, the radio voice of the Cubs. Being a fan of the Chicago Cubs means being resilient, optimistic, knowledgeable but forgiving — we are all those!  We also run the Go Cubs Go Facebook Group for those who, well, go for that sort of thing."

Post We're Proud of:
Love always, Crane
Who We Are:
"We're not the oldest Cubs blog, because our debut in 1997 pre-dated blogs. We would say we're the best Cubs blog, but that would just seem sad--as though blatant self-promotion was the only way you could find to get any attention, and besides, we're sure there are other blogs that bleed Cubbie blue more than we do. We don't ignore reason or statistics when we argue (and we really like to argue), but we don't cling to either. We've lived through Dusty and Neifi, Mark Prior's(notes) towel drills, Kerry Wood's(notes) "arm fatigue", and Ron Santo's interesting vocal stylings. We're not as naively optimistic as others, but still more than we care to admit. We don't go into every season sure that "this is the year" and just once we'd like to be wrong. Just once. Would it f#$%ing kill them?"

Baseball's Greatest Mimbos: The Final Countdown
Who I Am:
"The Fair Base Ballist is a blog that aims to cover the Chicago Cubs (and baseball in general) in a distinct, friendly manner. It is authored by a 20-something female fan who is concerned more with being frank, contemplative and cheerful than cynical and sarcastic. Hints of good old-fashioned snarkiness are there, but are soft around the edges. The FBB is all about good clean fun and is intended for readers with a passion for baseball and life."

Specialty: Chicago Cubs humor, commentary, and analysis
Posts We're Proud of:
Cardinals Have a Ways to Go Before They Are Cublike, Interview with the Baseball Gods, and Inblogguration Address
Who We Are:
"This Cubs blog is inspired by the Trib ads in the 80s called Tales from the Upper Deck, which featured one of my heroes and die-hard Cub fan, Mike Royko.  I spend a great deal of my time up in Aisle 424 in the Upper Deck of Wrigley Field with other Cubs season ticket holders. We mainly talk about the Cubs or baseball, but we will also delve into other topics on occasion. Tales from Aisle 424 will probably resemble the occasionally insightful and usually nonsensical rants of me and my summer family (and it usually comes back around to the Cubs)."
