There a million ways to wager on majors, but we came up with a unique game that makes it simple, easy, and fun. Here are the details:
-- Before every major championship this season (Masters, U.S. Open, British Open and PGA Championship), we will ask you, dear readers, to e-mail us just ONE name of a player you think has a good shot at playing well that week. You can only use a player once, so if you picked Phil Mickelson this week at the Masters, you couldn't use him again for the next three majors.
-- The idea is to finish with the lowest score under par of the four majors, so if you pick someone that struggles at the Masters, you might still have a shot if your other players do well at the three other majors.
-- Since there is a chance people could tie at the top, we have a tiebreaker; you have to pick how low under (or over) par Tiger Woods will finish in all four majors this season, combined. That will be the deciding factor if people are tied at the top.
-- Your Masters pick must be e-mailed to us at firstname.lastname@example.org no later than 5:00 AM ET on Thursday, so if you're interested, make sure to send us an e-mail. In that e-mail, simply put your full name, your e-mail address, your 2011 Masters pick, and your Tiger tiebreaker number.
-- What does the winner of this thing get? Well, that's the fun part. The fine folks over at TaylorMade golf have offered up one of those snazzy new r11 drivers that everyone on tour seems to be using. So, the winner of the Masters might get a green jacket, but you'll have a chance to land a white driver, which is very cool of them and makes the contest more fun.
So, follow the instructions, send us your pick sometime this week before golf kicks off, and GOOD LUCK!
