Yasiel Puig finger wags Torii Hunter after outfield assist gets overturned

Yasiel Puig has one of the best arms in baseball. That was evident in his major league debut last season. The Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder — who MLB announced Tuesday will participate in this Monday's Home Run Derby — showed off his cannon once again later in the evening during the second inning against the Detroit Tigers.

Down 5-0, Tigers veteran Torii Hunter led off the second with a drive to deep right field that had double written all over it. That is, of course, if Puig weren't patrolling the area. The 23-year-old played the ball off one hop against the wall and fired it back into shortstop Miguel Rojas. Rojas tagged Hunter, who was called out by second base umpire Will Little. But Detroit manager Brad Ausmus challenged the call and it was eventually overturned.

And even though Hunter was ruled safe, Puig warned the five-time All-Star not to test his arm again with a Dikembe Mutombo-esque finger wag.

The 38-year-old took heed after the game. "I just tried to test him, tried to get something going. I was safe, but he scared me," Hunter told MLB.com. "I told him I wasn't going to run on him anymore. He [wagged] the finger and I was like, 'I'm not doing that anymore.'  He's a good player, man. Strong arm. Loves to throw. You can tell." The overturned call ended up being a huge play in the game as the Tigers rallied for five runs in the frame and came back to win 14-5.

Moving to the World Cup, Germany destroyed Brazil 7-1 to advance to the Final on Sunday. The defeat on home soil was devastating and historic on many levels.

The show won't go on

Finally in combat sports, UFC 176 has been cancelled due to a training injury suffered by Jose Aldo. It's only the second time in the current ownership's history that a pay-per-view event has been scrubbed.
