Ricky Williams’ advice to Johnny Manziel

Ricky Williams’ advice to Johnny Manziel

Ricky Williams was once on top of the college football world. The former University of Texas running back won the 1998 Heisman Trophy and went on to be a first-round pick in the 1999 NFL draft. So when the former Longhorn standout spoke publicly about reigning Heisman winner Johnny Manziel after a recent news conference, Williams had some interesting words.

Williams, now a running backs coach at the University of the Incarnate Word in San Antonio, told the assembled press:

“You know once you win the Heisman Trophy, there's going to be more attention on you,” Williams said. “You are probably not going to be able to get away with all the stuff you got away with before. To the media I would say, if the media did their research on who this kid was, nobody would be surprised.”

Of course, Manziel is being investigated by the NCAA for his involvement in being paid for his autograph.

Moving to exhibition football, Fox Sports sideline reporter Pam Oliver took a warmup pass to the face by Indianapolis Colts backup quarterback Chandler Harnish.

And in golf, Dustin Johnson is engaged to Paulina Gretzky. The couple has been together since January.
