Baron Davis enjoys a different kind of comeback

There tends to be a lot of hype surrounding high-profile NBA players who have been away from the game for some time. Often times, this hype is perpetuated by a slick video of dramatic highlights, repetitive fades to black, set to a musical score reminiscent of the movie 300. Baron Davis, who's been out of the game since tearing his ACL and MCL during the 2012 playoffs, put a much different spin on the comeback video genre.

Chronicling his comeback, Davis set off to Vancouver to get back in playing shape, with a little help from two-time MVP Steve Nash. But as Nash quickly points out in the video, Davis is "carrying around a pony keg" on his tummy. Davis amusingly counters that the added weight "could be an advantage." He then elaborates by saying that he doesn't really think "he's Charles Barkley fat. I'm more, like, Shaq fat." Nash tries to persuade Davis to consume "good sources of energy" to help his body "slim down" but the idea of not eating pizza does not sit well with Davis.

The bit was clearly produced with tongue firmly planted in cheek, but the chemistry between Davis and Nash plays like a well scripted comedy. With rather all-star 'acting'.

Pitcher Alex Cobb prepared for Valentine's Day

Earlier this week, video surfaced of Tampa Bay Rays pitcher Alex Cobb surprising his girlfriend Kelly at Discovery Cove in Orlando with the help of a dolphin. Cobb had written "Will you marry me?" on a buoy which the dolphin swam toward Kelly. Upon noticing the message, she exclaimed "Whatttt?" before shedding a few tears of joy and nodding her head. As if to up the bar on ballplayer proposals even higher, Cobb also got down on one knee once the two were out of the water with ring in hand.
