Turkish Süper Lig defender thinks ball has gone out of play, allows rivals to score

Eskişehirspor overtook Kasımpaşa in the Turkish Süper Lig on Sunday after inflicting a 2-0 home defeat on them.

In the 94th minute of the match, with Kasımpaşa down 1-0, Dutch defender Ryan Donk let a loose ball bounce towards the touchline, and ran to pick up another one to take a quick throw-in. That is a good tactic for a home side trying to chase a point in the dying seconds, but a very bad tactic if the original ball hasn't actually left the field.

An Eskişehirspor player — who was actually diligent enough to chase the ball — kept it in play and passed to Diomansy Kamara, who then had just the keeper to beat. The Former Fulham and West Ham striker tried his best to exonerate Donk's fail by completely fluffing his shot, but managed to find the net on his second attempt to double Eskişehirspor's advantage.
