Henrik Lundqvist destroys Billy Bush at air hockey on Access Hollywood Live (Video)
Apart from the category specifically set aside for them (NHL player of the year), hockey failed to win any major awards at Wednesday night's ESPYs, but all was not lost. Hockey still had a chance to take home a major sports award this week, with several NHLers up for accolades at the Nickelodeon Kids Choice Sports Awards, which aired right after the season finale of Sam & Cat.
Henrik Lundqvist was probably hockey's best hope. No way was a hockey player winning "sickest moves" over a basketball player, and the "best save" category was locked up by Tim Howard's World Cup performance. But Lundqvist was a frontrunner, in our opinion, for "King of Swag". He's very swaggy.
Sadly, the Nickelodeon Kids Choice Sports Awards didn't give us what we want. (Dwyane Wade is your reigning king of swag.) But they did give us this great clip of Lundqvist, along with his twin brother Joel, playing air hockey against Billy Bush on Access Hollywood Live to promote the event on Thursday morning. As it turns out, it's as difficult to score on Lundqvist in air hockey as it is in regular hockey.
It probably shouldn't come as a surprise that Lundqvist protects the goal like a frickin' fiend.
For one thing, that's his job, and even in a friendly game of air hockey, he's tracking the puck at an elite level. The overhead shots make that perfectly clear. The Access Hollywood team is lucky to get one.
Plus he's probably still having nightmares about the last time he was in LA. No way is he letting anything else past him in that city without a fight.
In addition to learning that it's probably unwise to play Henrik Lundqvist at any type of hockey, this clip also confirms our long-held suspicions that he smells great. Kit Hoover confirms that both Lundqvists are a treat for the nose late in the clip.
Finally, Lundqvist either has no idea what he's nominated for at the Nickeloden Kids Choice Sports Awards, or he's just way too cool to say the phrase "king of swag" aloud. Proof positive he should have won.
