Skier's husband detained after trying to sneak into venue

As she approaches one of the most important races of her life, U.S. freestyle skier Michelle Roark is dealing with a major distraction revolving around her husband, Mike Hormell. Hormell was banned from Cypress Mountain on Friday because he didn't have proper credentialing.

Hormell went to Cypress to watch his wife train for moguls and was turned away at a security checkpoint for not having proper credentials. He then snuck around security and into the venue so he could see the training. Shortly thereafter was found and detained by security for over an hour.

Roark told the Associated Press that she filed paperwork on behalf of her husband two weeks ago, and that both the U.S. Olympic Committee and the U.S. Ski and Snowboard Association have declined to help him get proper credentialing.

However, there's a happy ending: Hormell will be on hand Saturday to watch his wife go for gold.
