T.J. Oshie scores sick shorthanded goal vs. Lightning
We now interrupt the 2014 NHL trade deadline for a hockey thing:
That’s U.S. Olympic shootout hero T.J. Oshie, scoring a rather ridiculous shorthanded goal in their 4-2 victory over the Tampa Bay Lightning on Tuesday night.
Late in the second period, Alexander Steen made a little pass to Oshie in the Bolts’ zone. Oshie split Victor Hedman -- meekly stabbing with this stick to try and poke the puck away -- and Teddy Purcell; he then forced Marty St. Louis into a spin-o-rama on his knees, attempting to defend the shot.
Oshie then fired a backhander that beat Ben Bishop stick side to tie the game, 2-2.
(St. Louis, incidentally, was a minus-4 in the game.)
The Blues are now two points up on the Chicago Blackhawks in the Central and three points back of the Anaheim Ducks for the NHL lead.
