Panini unveils 2013-14 NHL rookie sketch cards and Tomas Hertl is adorable

In August, some of the NHL's top rookies gathered in Toronto for the annual NHLPA Rookie Showcase. They did the typical pre-season media stuff like interviews and photos. They also signed numerous hockey cards for Panini America. As part of this weekend’s Toronto Fall Expo show, Panini will make this year's Original NHL Player Sketch Cards available to collectors.

(You might remember some of the more memorable ones we featured last year.)

Panini unveiled some of those sketch cards today on their blog, The Knight's Lance, and here are some of our favorites.

All that's missing are the bags of crack surrounding him.

Morgan Rielly didn't choose to make Scott Laughton mayor of Philadelphia. Instead, he decided to turn CN Tower into an intimidating rocket-ship looking structure.

These last three are from Tomas Hertl, and basically confirm that he is incredibly adorable. When asked what the last picture represented, Hertl reportedly responded, "This is dream."

Nicklas Jensen's dog has apparently been drinking from the same nerve tonic bottle as Ken Griffey Jr.

Tom Wilson's depiction of his boys is very similar to that of the sticker family on the back of that mini van that keeps braking too early in front of you while in traffic.

This is either an inside joke with Murray or he's already auditioning for sponsorships.

Emerson Etem: Californian.

Thanks to these two great American heroes, this card should end up in the U.S. Hockey Hall of Fame someday.

You can see the entire collection here.
