Over 22 million votes were cast since EA Sports began the cover tournament in April. The final two came down to Brodeur and Sergei Bobrovsky of the Columbus Blue Jackets. Bobrovsky's current contract status would have made it awkward had he be chosen then bolted for the KHL, a league which isn't featured in the game.

There hasn't been an NHL curse like we've seen in the Madden series as players tend to have pretty good years when they feature on the cover. Brodeur is entering the final season of a two-year deal, one many believe is his last.
What kind of swan song will he deliver now that he can add "video game cover" to his long list of accomplishments?
