Bruins fans sing Anthem, chant ‘We Are Boston’, honor Martin Richard on Orr statue (Videos)

The Boston Bruins’ game against the Buffalo Sabres on Wednesday night was the first major sporting event in city since the bombings that killed three and injured over 150 people at the Boston Marathon on Monday.

We all knew it was going to be emotional. We just didn’t realize it was going to be this emotional.

Here is the National Anthem, sung by the Bruins fans after only a few lines from Rene Rancourt. This is amazing:

Then, after the first goal of the game by Boston’s Daniel Paille in the first period, another incredible moment: The Bruins fans spontaneously chanting “WE ARE BOSTON!” in TD Garden. That’s been the rallying cry heard and seen around the city since the bombings.

Finally – and we’re warning you, please get the tissues ready – Boston fans hung a Bruins T-shirt with the name of 8-year-old bombing victim Martin Richard, himself a Boston hockey fan, on the statue of Hall of Famer Bobby Orr located outside the arena. From NBC Sports Network:

The Bruins have donated $250,000 to the relief fund set up for the victims and their families. They’ve also donated tickets to first responders for this game against Sabres.
