USC player gives tribute to Ed Orgeron in Las Vegas Bowl (Photo)

When USC knocked off Fresno State 45-20 in the Las Vegas Bowl, it did so with Clay Helton, its third coach of the season, at the helm, but at least one player had another coach on his mind.

That’s a nice tribute for Ed “Coach O” Orgeron, who took over the head coaching duties on an interim basis after Lane Kiffin was fired after the fifth game of the year. The team rallied around the long-time assistant, reeling off six of its next eight games to finish the season 9-4. Many players hoped Orgeron would be hired full-time, but the school hired Washington coach Steve Sarkisian instead.

After not getting the job, Orgeron was disappointed and left the program to pursue other head coaching opportunities.
