Toledo to designate honorary seat for POW/MIA before Navy game

Toledo will welcome Navy to the Glass Bowl at noon on Saturday and in a really cool pregame ceremony, the university will unveil a great show of respect to those who serve and have served our country.

Toledo will designate a permanently unoccupied seat to honor military service personnel who were or who are prisoners of war (POW) or have been declared missing in action (MIA).

“We are honored to be able to recognize the sacrifices made by the brave men and women in our armed forces,” Toledo AD Mike O'Brien said in a statement. “This seat in the Glass Bowl will serve as a permanent reminder of the sacrifices made by those individuals who were prisoners of war or who never came home after serving their country.”

According to a university release, Toledo is believed to be the first university in the nation to designate a POW/MIA seat at one of its sports venues. The seat will be located in Section 1 of the stadium.
