A sparse crowd shows up for the Pac-12 Championship

The Pac-12 Championship game, which was supposed to be a financial boon for the conference, might end up being a financial burden when it's all said and done.

Perhaps that's because the two teams playing it — UCLA and Stanford — played in a lopsided game less than a week ago. Or perhaps it's because it's raining. In either case, it's a sad sight for one of the country's premier conferences.

Both an overhead shot from Fox and a pressbox level photo from Mercury News reporter Tim Kawakami show a woeful crowd to see the winner go to the Rose Bowl.

Tickets to the Pac-12 Championship were selling for an average of $145.08, which is the third-highest priced ticket of all the games this weekend. It was $57 just to get in the stadium, according to Seat Geek.

Perhaps fans thought the game was tomorrow?
