The Oklahoma Broadcasters Association can sue for the right to view the surveillance tape of Oklahoma running back Joe Mixon's incident with female student at a restaurant.

The Oklahoma Supreme Court ruled that the OAB can go after the tape, which has been withheld from public view. The incident happened in the summer of 2014 and the tape was made available to media members in a showing in September 2014 via an open records request. Per media who viewed the tape, Mixon "unloads a violent right-handed hook" on the woman after she pushed Mixon and slapped the left side of his neck.

A judge ruled in February that the tape should remain in the custody of the city of Norman. The overturning of that judge's ruling upholds an appeals court ruling that said the video should be part of public record.

Mixon was charged with a misdemeanor regarding the incident and reached a plea deal. Mixon was suspended from the team for the entire 2014 season and returned in 2015.
