Report: South Carolina DE Shameik Blackshear shot multiple times

South Carolina defensive end Shameik Blackshear is reportedly listed in serious condition after he was shot multiple times Wednesday evening.

According to The State, Blackshear was shot at a Columbia, S.C., apartment complex.

Sources close to the incident confirmed Blackshear as the victim of the shooting and said he was shot in the upper and lower body outside of one of the apartment buildings.

According to the Columbia police, who did not identify Blackshear by name, the victim of the shooting was in serious condition Thursday. One source told The State that Blackshear is expected to be OK.

Columbia police officials said the shooting occurred at the Club at Carolina Stadium, located at 100 Catawba Circle – just a stone’s throw from the Founder’s Park stadium used by the USC baseball team – at 9:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Blackshear, a freshman, was a four-star recruit in the class of 2015. He was the No. 18 strongside defensive end in the country according to Rivals and the No. 5 recruit in the state of South Carolina.

He was arrested for petit larceny in February and the charges were dropped in April. He was also charged with marijuana possession in November and was released on conditional discharge. Per The State, a conditional discharge is when a suspect pleads guilty and the charge is wiped off his or her permanent record upon completion of conditions.

Blackshear recorded two total tackles in two games in 2015.
