Purdue to wear patriotic helmets for Military Appreciation Day (Photo)

It seems that patriotism will be a theme in the Big Ten on Saturday as Purdue will join Northwestern and Minnesota among teams wearing special equipment representing the stars and stripes. The ‘P’ logo on the Boilermakers helmet will be filled in with red, white and blue.

The special helmets are a part of Military Appreciation Day at Ross-Ade Stadium Saturday in which the Boilermakers host Iowa at noon. Current military members, ROTC members, and retired veterans will line the way as Purdue takes the field and those men and women who are serving or have served in each brand of the Armed Forces will be recognized, according to a release.

Additionally, an enlistment ceremony will take place during halftime, thank you videos from Purdue players and coaches will be featured on the video board throughout the game, and the flags of Big Ten schools around the stadium will be replaced with American flags.
