Oregon State's Terron Ward has torn meniscus

Oregon State's leading rusher is out for the final two games of the regular season.

Terron Ward suffered a torn meniscus in the Beavers' win over Arizona State on Saturday.

"I was pretty shocked," Ward said Tuesday to OregonLive.com. He said his knee didn't feel right, but that the pain wasn't unbearable.

Ward, a senior, had a fantastic game as the Beavers upset the Sun Devils. He had 19 carries for 148 yards in the 35-27 win. But he was hurt at some point and is out for Oregon State's games against Oregon and Washington.

"It's crazy to even think of that," Ward said. "I've thought about that many times in the last two days. It was a good game to go out on, I guess, upset the No. 6 team. But I don't get to play in the Civil War. I won't get to play Washington again. I don't know if we'll have a bowl game. So things like that go through your mind.

"It's hard to swallow, but it's part of life."

At 5-5, Oregon State needs to win one of the games to get to a bowl.

Ward has broken the 100-yard barrier in three games in 2014 and will finish the season, barring a return for a bowl game, with 696 yards and 10 touchdowns. He had 521 yards last season, while splitting time with Storm Woods, who will likely become Oregon State's primary ballcarrier. Woods has 591 yards and four touchdowns in 2014.
