Nebraska WR Kenny Bell shows off his interesting new tattoo (PHOTO)

College football players have gotten some strange tattoos over the years (yeah, looking at you AJ McCarron), but Nebraska wide receiver Kenny Bell is trying his best to top that list.

Bell tweeted out a picture of the fresh ink on his left ribcage – it's a... wait, what the hell is that? Is that a lion in a headdress?

OK. Let that sink in for a second - a Nebraska player with a lion in a headdress tattoo.

Yeah, we didn’t understand it either.

Luckily, someone asked Bell and he did his best to explain on Twitter:

“[It] stand for strength, bravery, an pride. A calm lion's a symbol of controlled emotions. Headdresses wer given to bravest warriors”

Um, OK. Sure. Clear now.

We asked Bell if he was of Native American heritage and this was some sort of tribute? We’re still waiting to hear back.

In the meantime, Bell’s tattoo is causing him a little discomfort as he walks around campus with a backpack Monday morning. But hey, it was worth it, right?

What do you think of Bell's new ink?
