Michigan regent said board will discuss the future of AD Dave Brandon

The future of Michigan athletic director Dave Brandon will be one of the topics of discussion during a previously scheduled board of regents meeting on Thursday.

Brandon has been the center of controversy following the athletic department acknowledging it made mistakes in the handling of quarterback Shane Morris, who suffered a head injury during a game against Minnesota on Sept. 27.

Morris was allowed to stay in the game despite stumbling around with a clear injury. Then, after being taken out for examination, Morris was reinserted into the game to take a handoff while backup Devin Gardner missed a play for losing his helmet.

"The systems failed and there are a lot of issues we have to review," regent Denise Ilitch told WWJ CBS TV in Detroit.

Coach Brady Hoke has been in the same crosshairs as Brandon not only for the Morris situation, but also for the Wolverines poor performance on the field. Michigan is in the midst of what is shaping up to be the worst football season in school history. Hoke is in his fourth season with the program and every year the program’s record has been worse. Many don’t expect Hoke to be retained after this year.

According the ESPN's Brett McMurphy, someone on Michigan’s behalf has already starting gauging the interest of possible replacements for Brandon.
