Kyle Allen to transfer from Texas A&M

Quarterback Kyle Allen is transferring from Texas A&M.

The school announced Allen's departure Thursday evening. He made 14 starts over two seasons for Texas A&M.

Allen, a sophomore, was named the 2015 starter out of fall camp. He saw action in 10 of Texas A&M's 12 games and completed 160 of 283 passes for 2,210 yards, 17 touchdowns and seven interceptions. His worst game came in a loss to Alabama where he threw three interceptions. Two were returned for touchdowns.

He got the majority of snaps at quarterback in 2015, splitting time with Kyler Murray, a freshman. The A&M offense struggled to find consistency throughout the season and a third quarterback, Jake Hubenak, also got playing time. A&M finished the regular season 8-4 and had lost three of four SEC games at one point during the season.

Allen won the starting job from Kenny Hill during the 2014 season after Hill started the season as the starting quarterback. Allen is also following in Hill's transfer footsteps. Hill transferred from Texas A&M following the 2014 season. Allen finished 2014 with 1,322 passing yards, 16 touchdowns and seven interceptions.

Murray will likely start the team's bowl game against Louisville in the Music City Bowl.

Allen was a five-star recruit and the No. 1 pro-style quarterback in the class of 2014 according to Rivals. He'll likely have a lot of suitors on the transfer market, as he'll have two years of eligibility starting in 2017.
