Iowa State's Devlyn Cousin suspended after domestic assault charge

Iowa State defensive tackle Devlyn Cousin was charged with domestic assault after he was arrested for an incident Friday.

According to the arrest report per the Des Moines Register, Harris allegedly pushed a woman identified as his girlfriend to the ground as the two were arguing before 9 p.m.

He's also charged with obstruction of emergency communication.

From the Register:

Huff said the 911 operator heard a woman crying and a man yelling in the background before the phone connection suddenly went dead. The woman was not able to speak directly to the operator, Huff said.

After his arrest, Cousin was suspended indefinitely by Iowa State. The Cyclones, at 2-10 in 2014, aren't going to a bowl game.

"We are aware of the charges filed against Devlyn, and we take them very seriously," Iowa State coach Paul Rhoads said in a statement. "The allegations brought against Devlyn are not consistent with the expectations of our program.

"Devlyn is currently suspended indefinitely under the Iowa State student-athlete discipline policy as we gather more information."

Cousin, a redshirt sophomore, played in nine games in 2014 and had 12 tackles with a sack and a tackle for a loss.
