Forget guys like Andrew Wiggins and Jabari Parker. The big breakout star from the first weekend of the NCAA tournament was Alex Chang, the animated cowbell player from the Stanford band.

Not only will Chang be around for the tourney's second weekend — a claim WIggins or Parker can't boast — he's already the first March Madness star to make a late-night TV appearance. Chang sat in with the band on Jimmy Kimmel Live on Tuesday night, answering questions from the host before playing.

What we learned: Chang is 22 years old, majors in mechanical engineering and also plays other percussion instruments. Asked by Kimmel if playing the cowbell was a demotion, Chang showed some comedic chops by masterfully replying "Does this look like a demotion?"

Chang, of course, first grabbed everyone's attention with his manic, Gene Frenkle-type striking during Stanford's upset of second-seeded Kansas on Sunday afternoon. With Kimmel now in his rear-view mirror, he'll have the spotlight once again on Thursday as Stanford travels to Memphis to take on Dayton in a Sweet 16 matchup.
