Mercer wife banishes Tennessee husband to tent in driveway
A house divided when it comes to sports loyalties is always good for a few manufactured yuks. You know, "loser does the dishes," "winner sleeps on the couch because of sore feelings," that whole bit.
Bridget Trogden and Dewayne Lawson, however, amped up the laughs a bit this weekend with Mercer taking on Tennessee in the Round of 32 on Sunday night. Trogden, an associate professor of chemistry at Mercer, was supporting her Bears after Friday's big upset of Duke.
Lawson, meanwhile, appears to still be repping his Tennessee Volunteers, a choice of loyalty that would appear to have earned him a few nights not on the sofa, but on the concrete of their driveway.
Check out this tweet from Bridget:
Sorry, dear husband @macon_volfan. You can come back in Sun night. @13wmaznews @merceryou #gobears #mercermadness pic.twitter.com/3ic87Z53AB

Here's Dewayne's response:

Who knows if Bridget's promise of a Sunday night return came true after the beatdown Tennessee put on her beloved Mercer, 83-63. We do know Dewayne was pretty stoked about his day:
So a pretty normal day for me. Vols win to go to Sweet 16 and Bridget and I get mentioned on two national websites. #Sunday

(For the sake of Dewayne's back, we hope she did let him in.)
