Butler trio will join the famed Washington Generals

Only nine days after they came within a bucket of toppling heavily favored Duke in the national title game, three Butler seniors will shoot for an even bigger upset.

Seniors Willie Veasley, Avery Jukes and Nick Rodgers signed one-game contracts with the Washington Generals to play an exhibition against the Globetrotters in Indianapolis on Wednesday.

"These kids have the winning attitude we need to push us over the hump," Red Klotz, the Generals' owner and president, said in a statement. "Playing in Indianapolis with these guys on the floor also gives us the type of home court advantage the Bulldogs enjoyed at the Final Four. I don’t think I'd want to be a Globetrotter on Wednesday night trying to shut these guys down."

The three Butler seniors were a part of upset victories over Syracuse, Kansas State and Michigan State during the NCAA tournament, but the odds against them this time are far worse than any of those games.

Although the Globetrotters have lost to college teams before including Ohio State in 2002 and UTEP in 2003, the last time Klotz and the Generals tasted victory against them was 1971.
