Mad Dash: Blue Jays player injures himself sneezing

Baseball has an amazing history of weird injuries. Marty Cordova falling asleep in a tanning bed, and subsequently having to stay out of the sun for a week was pretty good. Jeff Kent claiming he fell of his truck while washing it was another. But maybe no injury was as bizarre as Sammy Sosa sneezing so hard that he gave himself back spasms and sprained a ligament. It was an injury so random and so specific that we assumed it would never happen again. Then Toronto Blue Jays outfielder Kevin Pillar sneezed over the weekend. Pillar is now out for a week after straining an oblique with that sneeze, according to the Toronto Star. It's beyond amazing. We feel like Ron Burgundy right now. We're not even mad, we're just impressed that another player could get injured this way. Here's hoping for a speedy recovery.

Patrick Kane is one of the most beloved athletes in Chicago. His broken clavicle has also broken hearts in the Windy City, despite the Blackhawks going on a 5-1-1 run since he went down. Kane won't be back until May, but a shrine has emerged in Wrigleyville with the hope that it may speed along his recovery. Sports needs more awesome shrines. Especially if they include Lucky Charms.

Plenty of sports fans enjoyed the 30 for 30 "I Hate Christian Laettner" Sunday night on ESPN, and Laettner tweeted along to add to the experience. During those tweets, he even threw in an apology for stomping on Aminu Timberlake in the infamous game against Kentucky. But he also doesn't think it should have been an ejection, as he said numerous times during interviews last week. We can never have it all with Laettner.
