Cubs fan talks remarkable home run catch, shares mystery of old baseball

For 65-year old Mike Pullin, it was just another catch.

But for the rest of the baseball world, it was something special.

"I just had to go up and get it, that's all," Pullin, a former professional bowler, said.

The Rochelle, Ill. native credited his 31 years of softball experience for making the grab not incredibly difficult (although he did come close to falling out of the stadium).

Cameras also caught Pullin pulling a sneaky switch when he grabbed a much different looking baseball that he brought with him to throw on the field instead of the actual home run ball.

"Someone on the phone thought I threw a potato because the ball was so old and beat-up," Pullin laughed.

But the ball he actually threw into the outfield was an baseball his dog used to play with all the time.

Regardless, Monday night's game became the most memorable for the Pullin family.
