CSNNE: Contrite Belichick surprises with Hernandez statement

Anyone who's ever seen a Bill Belichick press conference knows his style of conversing with the media. Short answers. Lack of details. Minimal emotion. So the expectation before his press conference on Wednesday afternoon was more of the same, especially when it came to the topic of Aaron Hernandez.

Belichick, however, delivered a lengthy opening statement about the former tight end's arrest and investigation, saying that he was both "shocked" and "disappointed" to learn that one of his players had been implicated in a murder investigation.
