Royal Family cuts ribbon to start Tour de France, bestow Stage 1 jerseys

Kate awarded the yellow jersey, Prince William the polka dots and Prince Harry the green

Prince William attended the Tour de France's first stage starting in Leeds on Saturday with his wife Kate, the Duchess of Cambridge, and his brother Prince Harry.

Tour organizers asked Kate to award the Stage 1 winner the first yellow jersey of the race, while Williams awarded the polka dots for King of the Mountain and Harry handed out the green for the stage’s best sprinter.

Mark Cavendish withdrew from the Tour after a crash with 400 meters to go and surely would have wanted to be in marcel Kittel's pedal-clip shoes when Kate, handed the yellow jersey to the German, and she, husband Prince William and Prince Harry flanked him, clapping, on the winner's podium in Harrogate.
