Andrew Bynum is an awful, awful driver
It's been 4 1/2 years since Kobe Bryant, on camera, famously asked his Los Angeles Lakers to ship Andrew Bynum's bleepin' tail out in exchange for Jason Kidd. Who knew that the car park setting would do such irreversible damage to Bynum's driving skills?
In his first few games back from suspension following last season's nasty hit on former Mavericks guard Jose Juan Barea, Bynum has been absolutely dominant, averaging nearly 23 points, 17 rebounds and two blocks in just under 33 minutes of action. Those are ridiculous numbers, but not nearly as ridiculously stupid as some of Bynum's driving antics from the year 2011.
Hold your nose and read this quote from TMZ:
Law enforcement sources tell us ... Bynum was pulled over by Culver City PD in early December for allegedly trying to pass another vehicle ... by crossing a divider and driving on the wrong side of the road.
We're told Bynum was cited for illegal passing and sent on his way ... and was extremely cooperative with the officers.
Here's the rub -- the incident went down JUST DAYS BEFORE Bynum earned himself two more driving tickets on separate occasions -- one for tinted tail lights and a missing license plate, and one for speeding.
The tinted taillight "infraction"? Not really of any concern. The missing license plate? Yawn.
Driving on the wrong side of the road after barreling over a divider, just to pass someone? That's a bit much, Andrew. Especially once you recall the seeming lack of concern Bynum showed earlier in 2011 by parking in handicapped spaces at a grocery store in Los Angeles.
(Also, is anyone else enjoying the fact that TMZ is now using phrases like "here's the rub"?)
