Paulo Filho is back training, still won't fight Silva

The last time we saw former World Extreme Cagefighting champion Paulo Filho, he missed weight and then had a bizarre performance in a loss against Chael Sonnen. He was subsequently cut by the UFC/WEC, and passed on a chance to fight with Bellator. Nonetheless, he is back to training, and according to his interview with Brazilian magazine TATAME, he is serious about fighting.

I’m 100%, training hard with the Master Distak, who is giving me a sensational base, and the Master Oswaldo Alves, a vision totally different of the Jiu-Jitsu. Thanks God I’m more focused, recovered from the problems I had. I met a cool girl that supports me. My father is in good health, everything is perfect for me. I think this is the best stage of my life.

After claiming that people will be surprised to see him back, and calling his depression cured, he affirms what he has said in the past. He will not fight Anderson Silva.

Anderson is a guy that I wouldn’t fight at all. We have the same manager, are friends and I think it has space for everybody.

Though Filho is a fighter without a promotion, he won't be without a fighting home for long. Despite his past troubles, he is a seriously talented mixed martial artist and should not be ignored.
